John Joseph Coote (1907-1986) was a rugby league player in the Australian competition, the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL). A junior of the Eastern Suburbs club, Coote was the father of Australian Rugby League Hall of Famer Ron Coote. A forward, Coote played in some of the great Easts' sides of the mid-thirties, highlighted by an appearance in the 1936 premiership decider.〔Alan Whiticker/Glen Hudson: Encyclopedia of Rugby League Players. 1995 (ISBN 1875169571)〕 Jack Coote played 5 first grade seasons with the Sydney Roosters: 1929, 1930, 1935, 1936 and 1937.
